SAKE OF SKILL
This month we zoom in on the Ultimate Original Backpackers,
Sake of Skill , who need not any introduction. These cats are
now on the 3rd volume of the Backpackers series mixtape, which
also scooped the 2008 HYPE AWARDS best mixtape. Sake of Skill

R-SENIC
One of the dopest independent albums out right now is
R-Senic's Album Nyiko lo, this Tembisa/JHB native has
been at it for a while . We caught up with him @ the
Back to the City hiphop show in JHB where he performed
and was pushing Nyikolo his latest offering. This album

BACK 2 THE
CITY
The
2010 Back To The City hiphop show in JHB was the third
time running this year celebtrating the hard fought
freedom many unsung heroes died for. From the
Sharpville massacre, Solomon Mahlangu, Steve Biko to
Chris Hani. Hiphop heads came in numbers and the bad
rainy weather did not deter them. Emcees, [graffiti] artists, Bboys and
Bgirls made the day a memorable one. In one day one got
to see the strength and takeover of the hiphop culture
in South Africa.......a beautiful thing.

HYDROLOGY
We go back to 2004 when Liqud K-ZN dropped
this inspirqtional uplifting piece of art
called Hydrology. Not only did Liquid K-ZN make
an unignorable contribution to hiphop but they
also make their mark with this debut which they
also toured Europe with, a milestone
achievement bythis duo from a small sugar
farming town called Emapngeni. Forward to
2009/10 Liquid the follow up:Aqua Flow Agenda
that was also nomibated for the 2009 MTN Hype

Tree Houses On The Sea officially
launched their debut album on the 11th
of December at the M1 Studios at SABC
on Old Ford Road. The gig on the night
was recorded - video and sound, and now
they hit Cape Town, and later next year
JHB should brace itself for a T.H.O.T.S

acouple of notable releases from
Durban. We have had bangers form the
likes of Skye Wanda,Ewock,Black Moss,
Zenith, Liquid K- ZN and Zakwe to name
a few. But one prominent emcee that
cabbot be slept on is Abdus, and just
when his tape is on high rotation on
most boom boxes, Abdus has re-released
the tape with two/three extra tracks.

NewTown about 2 months ago doing an
instore promo for his tape with Liquid
